Our Story

Curt & Ashley

Curt Honeycutt

In 1932, Curt’s great grandparents moved to Coats, NC, where we continue to farm today. Growing up, Curt rode on the tractor with his granddaddy, Rupert Honeycutt, as soon as he was big enough to hold on. Much of what he knows about farming, he learned from Rupert and his uncles.

“Since I was old enough to talk, I always said I wanted to farm for a living.”

— Curt Honeycutt

Ashley Honeycutt

As a child, Ashley spent the summers on her grandparent’s dairy farm, but she always thought her dream was a career in fashion. She pursued a fashion degree in New York City, but felt unsatisfied and found herself moving further and further away from the city, in location, as well as heart and mind.

Our Family Farm

Honeycutt Farms is a century-old farm, but in a way, Curt started from the beginning in 2010. His granddaddy was no longer farming and the land lay fallow when Curt planted his first crop of 2.5 acres of soybeans behind his parent’s house.

When Ashley joined Curt at the farm in Coats, and she didn’t come with a passion for growing crops, but together we began to raise cattle, and Ashley discovered she loved caring for the animals.

“My favorite part is starting something from seed. You watch it come up in 7 days, and watch it grow and respond to things you do. At the end of the day you can look back and see what you have accomplished.”

— Curt Honeycutt

“This is my happy place. We try to keep the cows happy and in turn they bring a lot of joy to our family.”

— Ashley Honeycutt

Today we have two little farmhands, Lane and Sloan. We’re proud to be able to give them the connection to nature, animals and their food that we both had as children with our grandparents.
